Cristian Torres-León is an Agroindustrial Engineer with a degree from the National University of Colombia (2013). He has a Master’s degree in Food Science and Technology by the Autonomous University of Coahuila in Mexico (2016) and obtained his Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology in 2019 from the same university. Also, he obtained a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences by the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil (2019). He worked as researcher in the Ministry of Science of Colombia (2013). He has published 15 peer-reviewed papers and 12 book chapters. He also serves as reviewer for several notable journals. He has experience in Food Science and Technology and Biological Sciences in the biotechnology area acting on the following subjects: phenolic compounds, valorization of agro-industrial byproducts, biological properties (Antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiproliferative activities), edible films and coatings,  mango seed, solid-state fermentation, fruit postharvest and food security.

Currently, he is full-time professor at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, Mexico. Prof. Torres is Head of Research and Postgraduate Programs and leader of the Reaserch Center and Ethnobiological Garden.
